Three More RMG Factories in Bangladesh Earn LEED Certification
Published At: May 14, 2025Bangladesh has added three more readymade garment (RMG) factories to its growing list of LEED-certified green buildings, reinforcing the country's strong commitment to environmental sustainability in the sector.
The newly certified factories are Tasniah Fabrics Ltd Admin Building and Tasniah Fabrics Ltd RMG Building, both located in Nayapara, Kashimpur, Gazipur; and Comfit Golden Leaf in Gorai, Mirzapur, Tangail.
With these additions, the total number of LEED-certified RMG factories in Bangladesh now stands at 243. Of these, 101 have achieved Platinum status and 128 hold Gold certification. Remarkably, 68 of the world’s top 100 highest-rated LEED-certified factories are now based in Bangladesh.
Among the newly certified, the Tasniah Fabrics Ltd Admin Building has achieved a historic milestone, becoming the highest-rated LEED-certified factory in the world under the LEED v4 rating system. It earned a record-breaking 107 points, surpassing the previous global leader, SM Sourcing, which had 106 points.
Former BGMEA Director and Additional Managing Director of Denim Expert Ltd, Mohiuddin Rubel, hailed the achievement as a landmark moment for the industry.
"This historic accomplishment places Bangladesh at the forefront of sustainable industrial practices globally. It reflects the RMG sector’s strategic shift toward green growth, energy efficiency, and responsible manufacturing," Rubel said in a media statement.
He added that this recognition underscores the visionary leadership of Bangladesh’s entrepreneurs and strengthens the country’s image as a responsible and future-ready sourcing destination.
"As global supply chains increasingly prioritize ESG performance and sustainability, this milestone not only enhances Bangladesh’s reputation but also creates new market opportunities and sets a new benchmark for green building excellence across industries," Rubel added.
