Mahmud Hasan Khan officially elected President of BGMEA
Published At: June 15, 2025The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) held a much-anticipated election for the 2025-27 term. A president and seven vice-presidents are elected as office bearers from among the 35 elected directors of the board.
As part of the election process, the FORUM panel has formally submitted the nomination documents for eight office bearers, including the position of president.
According to the nomination list submitted by Chief Election Coordinator Faisal Samad of the FORUM panel, Mahmud Hasan Khan has been appointed for the post of President.
Accordingly, Salim Rahman – First Vice President; Inamul Haq Khan – Senior Vice President; Md. Rezwan Selim – Vice President; Mijanur Rahman – Vice President (Finance); Vidiya Amrit Khan – Vice President; Md. Sehab Udduza Chowdhury – Vice President; and Mohammad Rafique Chowdhury – Vice President have been appointed as the office bearers of the BGMEA.
Only one valid nomination for each office-bearer position has been submitted by the due date, and no appeal has been filed; as such, all office bearers of BGMEA are hereby elected uncontested. Therefore, no election is necessary for office bearers. The BGMEA Election Board hereby declares the office bearers elected for the terms 2025–2027, as per the BGMEA official letter.
The FORUM has won the majority in the BGMEA 2025-27 term elections. Out of the 35 director posts, 25 out of 26 in Dhaka and 6 out of 9 in Chittagong have been nominated by the FORUM. Only four candidates have won from the rival Sammilita Parishad. Of these, one from Dhaka and three from Chittagong.
Among the winning candidates, the FORUM Alliance leader, Mahmud Hasan Khan (Babu), Managing Director of Rising Fashions Limited, received the most votes.
And in Chittagong, FORUM candidate Salim Rahman received the most votes. With the FORUM getting the majority, Mahmud Hasan Khan was almost certain to become the next president of BGMEA.
