The bilateral meeting highlighted a strong economic partnership between Bangladesh and Japan.
Ambassador Saida Shinichi praised Bangladesh’s growing potential in business, trade, and investment, and emphasized that to fully harness these opportunities, Bangladesh must focus on diversifying its industrial structure and enhancing efficiency and accountability in public service.
He noted that Bangladesh’s domestic market is steadily expanding, and with favorable investment facilities already in place, Japanese entrepreneurs are likely to increase their footprint in the country.
The Ambassador also highlighted the promising scope for collaboration between Bangladesh’s skilled IT professionals and Japan’s advanced technology sector, which could yield mutual benefits.
Taskeen said that Japanese entrepreneurs have already invested $507.14 million in sectors such as fertilizer, construction, textiles, power, gas, and petroleum—though Japan’s total global foreign investment stands at $184.02 billion. He encouraged Japanese investors to take advantage of the various incentives Bangladesh offers to foreign investors.
Meanwhile, Ambassador Shinichi shared that the 7th meeting of the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) between Bangladesh and Japan was recently held in Tokyo. Both parties expressed optimism that the agreement would be signed soon, potentially unlocking a new era of economic cooperation.
