Abandoned Rajshahi Textile Mills revived after 22 years by PRAN-RFL, creates 2,000 jobs in 6 months
Published At: August 6, 2025The Rajshahi Textile Mill, which reopened after 22 years, has created employment for 2,000 people in six months. The country's leading industrial group PRAN-RFL Group has created these new jobs by reopening the mill. The industrial group is working to invest in new sectors including telemarketing and ready-made garments to create another 12,000 jobs.
PRAN-RFL signed an agreement with the state-owned Bangladesh Textile Mill Corporation (BTMC) in October to reopen the Rajshahi Textile Mill, which has been closed for the past 22 years, on the basis of a private-public partnership.
The industrial group has already been able to make the dilapidated factory operational after taking over from BTMC in December. It has started the production process of various types of bags and shoes by repairing the only abandoned shed in the factory.
The company has already invested Tk 350 crore and hired 2,000 workers in six months. On this occasion, Advisor Sakhawat Hossain was the chief guest at the program titled 'Celebrating 2,000 Employment; Target 12,000' organized on the factory premises last Saturday (August 2).
He said, the people of Rajshahi will no longer have to go to Dhaka, Gazipur or abroad - employment is being created here, industry is being developed here.

M Sakhawat Hossain said, "This initiative of Pran-RFL Group is undoubtedly a groundbreaking step. Creating employment for 2,000 people in such a short time by reopening a state-owned mill that has been closed for a long time is truly commendable. This is not just the opening of an industrial factory, it is the beginning of socio-economic change in a region.
Ahsan Khan Chowdhury, Chairman and CEO of Pran-RFL Group, said, "We think that the days of going to Dhaka for work are coming to an end. Rather, we will go to remote areas in the coming days and set up industries and go around with job offer letters. We are investing in labor-intensive industries in Rajshahi and are able to create job opportunities for a lot of people.
Located on 26 acres of land in the Naodapara area of Rajshahi, the factory is currently producing around six lakh pairs of shoes and bags every month, most of which are exported to Europe, America and other global markets.
