In a significant endorsement of its growing global stature, Messe Frankfurt, the global leader in textile trade shows with over 60 international textile events, has selected Bangladesh as one of the key focus countries for its flagship events, Techtextil and Texprocess 2026 to be held in Frankfurt, Germany. This announcement, made at an exclusive press conference at The Westin Dhaka, highlights the nation's pivotal role in the international textile and apparel industry's drive toward innovation, technology adoption, and value addition.
Scheduled for 21–24 April 2026, Techtextil and Texprocess in Frankfurt remain the premier global platforms for the entire textile value chain—bringing together technical textiles, functional fabrics (Techtextil) and cutting-edge garment and textile processing machinery (Texprocess) under one roof.
Techtextil and Texprocess 2026 to be held from April 21 to 24, 2026, in Frankfurt, Germany.
Catalyst for modernization and diversification
Bangladesh has been chosen as one of the five most important countries for visitors to the show as it remains a world leader in garments.
-
Growing Participation: Following successful showings in 2022 and 2024, a significantly larger Bangladesh pavilion is anticipated for 2026, a joint initiative by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) and BGMEA. This expanded presence will spotlight local companies specializing in technical and high-value-added textiles, demonstrating the industry's shift beyond basic garment manufacturing.
-
Technology Transfer Hub: Rummana Afroze, Head of Operations, Messe Frankfurt SP Bangladesh, highlighted the exhibitions' critical function as a platform for technology transfer. The annual attendance of over 100 trade visitors from Bangladesh, who connect with global exhibitors from 14 country pavilions at Techtextil and two at Texprocess (including China and Taiwan), is vital. This access to cutting-edge technologies, from garment machinery to digital innovations, is essential for modernizing production, improving quality, and enhancing global competitiveness.
-
Focus on Future Trends: Participation directly exposes Bangladeshi manufacturers to emerging global mega-trends, including smart textiles, automation, and eco-friendly processes. This knowledge exchange is crucial for developing sustainable and high-performance textile products, enabling companies to diversify product offerings and meet evolving international buyer demands, especially in light of the country's upcoming LDC graduation challenges.
Strengthening Bangladesh’s global position
By connecting with global innovators and suppliers, Bangladeshi companies are set to gain invaluable insights that will help the nation evolve from a volume-centric manufacturing hub to a value-added, innovation-centric textile powerhouse. The Messe Frankfurt recognition is a powerful tool to bolster the country's image as a global hub for sustainable and high-performance textile production.
This strategic focus country designation will act as a major catalyst, accelerating the adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies and sustainable practices, which are non-negotiable for Bangladesh to achieve its ambitious export targets and ensure long-term resilience in the global market.
