The long-dormant operations of Beximco Textiles and Apparel Division (BEXTEX) are set to resume as Japanese–Bangladeshi ethical fashion and sustainability venture Revival Group Co. Ltd. and Revival Projects Ltd. prepare to take the unit on lease. The tripartite agreement between Revival, Janata Bank, and Beximco is scheduled for signing next Tuesday, 18 November 2025, pending Janata Bank board approval.
The draft agreement has already been finalized by all three parties. Once approved, the official signing will enable the full-scale reopening of the textile division, which has been closed for several years following financial difficulties and labor unrest.
According to Revival, the initiative is expected to restore employment for over 25,000 workers, many of whom lost jobs during the factory shutdown. The project is backed by US-based financier Ecomili, founded by expatriate Bangladeshis, with an initial investment of $20 million, planned to scale up to $100 million in the coming years.
Beximco’s industrial park, which once housed 32 factories, had seen widespread closures, leaving thousands unemployed and impacting the surrounding local economy. Industry analysts describe Revival’s initiative as one of the largest employment recovery efforts in Bangladesh’s textile sector in recent years.
Revival has confirmed that it will fully revive factory operations, reinstate former employees, and bring in experienced Japanese executives to ensure operational discipline. To maintain transparency and international standards, an independent global audit firm will oversee factory processes.
This development marks a major comeback for Beximco Textiles, promising not only renewed livelihoods for workers but also a boost to Bangladesh’s textile and apparel industry, which remains a cornerstone of the national economy.
